Spainish Pipedream
John Prine

          D G
She was a level-headed dancer on the road to alcohol
    A D
And I was just a soldier on my way to Montreal
         D G
Well she pressed her chest against me about the time the juke box broke
    A
She gave me a peck on the back of the neck
                            D
And these are the words she spoke

D
Blow up your T.V. - Throw away your paper
            A C
Go into the country and build you a home
D
Plant a little garden - Eat a lot of peaches
            A D
Try to find Jesus on your own

        D G
Well, I sat there at the table and I acted real naive
      A D
For I knew that topless lady had something up her sleeve
          D G
Well, she danced around the bar room and she did the hooche-coo
         A D
Yeah she sang her song all night long, telling me what to do

D
Blow up your T.V. - Throw away your paper
            A C
Go into the country and build you a home
D
Plant a little garden - Eat a lot of peaches
            A D
Try to find Jesus on your own

      D G
Well, I was young and hungry and about to leave that place
    A D
But just as I was leaving, well she looked me in the face
        D G
I said "You must know the answer." She said, "No but I'll give it a try."
       A D
And to this very day we've been living our way and here is the reason why

D
We blew up our T.V. - Threw away our paper
               A D
We went to the country and built us a home
D
Had a lot of children - Fed them on peaches
               A D
They all found Jesus on their own
